People have long enjoyed watching videos; whether they involve a recent family vacation or an episode from a television series, they can prove to have their own entertainment values. In the past, individuals have watched their videos on their television, with little options for looking at them elsewhere. Because of the growing popularity of the Internet, however, a person can also watch online videos at home.
Online Videos with User Control
A number of websites on the Internet allow people to upload their own videos. People that visit can put up many different things; if they want to post a video review of a movie that they recently watched, they can do so. If they want to share something that their cat did, there is little stopping them. However, many sites do limit videos to original creations and not copyrighted material. A person cannot post a full episode of a television show, for example, without the risk of it being removed.
Online Videos with Copyright/Website Owner Control
If a website does not allow its users to upload videos or comment on videos, it may be because the copyright owners control the site. Said owners may put up videos that would be restricted on other sites, and users can view them with commercials and other money making tactics added in. Some of these controlled websites may require a subscription in order to watch videos in good quality. Although restrictions tend to be present, a person can still watch these online videos in their own home, or anywhere else that allows Internet access.
Watching a video is a pastime that a number of people have enjoyed. For as long as the medium has been around, few activities are as widely and actively practiced. Whether they are at home or hundreds of miles away, a person can watch a video online thanks to recent technology. There are many websites available for them to look at. While some allow the user to share videos, others are more limited and restricted. Some people do not mind this, and will simply go where there is something good and entertaining to watch. Whatever a person’s feelings are, the technology is not going away.
